About this event
James W. Iman plays Morton Feldman's For Bunita Marcus
Friday, November 20 · 4:00 PM · Laughlin Music Center, Chatham University
Written in 1985, two years before his death, Morton Feldman's For Bunita Marcus is among the most hushed and absorbing works in the piano repertoire. Over more than an hour, quiet patterns return slightly altered, like a rug whose design shifts as you walk across it. Nothing is rushed and nothing resolves in the usual way. The music asks you to slow down and listen closely.
Pianist James W. Iman, a Métier Records recording artist and cofounder and artistic director of the Ruckus412 festival, presents this landmark work in a single unbroken span. Come ready to let go of the clock.
Listed by Chatham University (Localist), gathered by the Pittsburgh events calendar.
