- ➤ Vandergrift police arrested Heidi Lynn Beer on charges of endangering the welfare of children after four kids led officers through a filthy home lacking water, with feces, rotten food, and urine covering floors—reports say she stayed with a boyfriend who allegedly beat the children. WTAE
- ➤ A father, Charles Smitley, and his girlfriend, Colleen Cassidy, were charged after a 5-year-old boy was found emaciated and with bruises in Westmoreland County in April when his grandfather took him to a hospital—court documents said the boy reported being spanked with a paddle and tied to a chair—while police investigate the case.
