X in the Loop Webinar Series

About this event

Through perspectives from Carnegie Mellon University faculty and industry leaders, the rotating series examines how generative AI is reshaping data and prediction, AI literacy, immersive media and games, film and authorship and workforce development. No technical background is required. Each session is 60 minutes on Zoom, including time for audience questions.Topic:Patterns, Predictions and the Power of Data: An Introduction to Data Science and Machine Learning Every data project begins with a human question. This session shows how observations become datasets, how datasets reveal patterns, and how machine-learning models turn those patterns into classifications or predictions - and why correlation is not explanation. Examples draw from markets, public life, media, s port or biological systems. No prior programming or computer-science background is assumed.Speaker: Raja Sooriamurthi (https://www.heinz.cmu.edu/faculty-research/profiles/sooriamurthi-raja) - Teaching Professor, I nformation Systems Program, Carnegie Mellon Universitycluding time for audience questions.
