BUSINESS NEWS

  • AI Strike Team (Strike Team 2.0) will add several local CEOs to its board on Jan. 1 to guide future AI initiatives, building on its work with robotaxi firm Waymo and planning new data center sites in our region.  WPXI
  • Pittsburgh riders can now choose a female driver when booking via Uber or Lyft—the Women Drivers and Woman Connect options were piloted this summer and expanded to 26 cities by mid-November, giving both riders and drivers more comfort and confidence.  KDKA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Crews in Allegheny County and Greensburg are prepping salt trucks and plows for today's winter storm—forecast to drop 3-5 inches locally and heavier snow on ridges. Officials urge drivers to postpone travel and give plow trucks plenty of space on the roads.  CBS Pittsburgh

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Craig Street near Bayard Street in Oakland was closed after crews found two large holes in the road — Pittsburgh Water investigated a possible water main break.  WTAE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Passages to Recovery in Pittsburgh will use a $500K grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to relaunch its peer advocacy program for those with substance use disorder + an additional $200K will improve detox protocols at Allegheny County Jail.  WPXI

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Penguins traded goaltender Tristan Jarry and forward Sam Poulin to the Oilers for goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick. Skinner is signed through 2025-26 and Kulak is under contract for the upcoming season.  WPXI
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates unveiled the 2026 promotional schedule, featuring giveaways, theme-nights and fan events at the ballpark.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Level One Volleyball began training girls at the All American (Field House in Monroeville) a few weeks ago as a first step toward forming a new women’s professional volleyball team in Pittsburgh. The program will develop more plans soon.  WPXI
  • Former Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will return with the Dolphins to Acrisure Stadium Monday, Dec. 15 and said the game is simply about winning rather than settling scores with his old team. The Dolphins have moved him to nickel cornerback—a change Steelers coaches noted as a game changer.  PennLive
  • Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt experienced discomfort during weightlifting and was diagnosed with a small hole in his lung, which is now fixed. He will rest ahead of the upcoming game against the Dolphins, and teammates Alex Highsmith + Nick Herbig are set to step in if needed.  PennLive
