- ➤ An American Airlines flight from Chicago to Boston made an emergency landing at Pittsburgh International Airport on Sunday night because of a mechanical issue; the plane was taken out of service for inspection while passengers continued to Boston on a replacement aircraft. WTAE

- ➤ A public hearing was held Monday night on the Pittsburgh Public Schools preliminary 2026 budget (over $730 million with a 2% decrease, a $12 million deficit, and a 4% millage increase) as the board plans a final vote on Dec. 17 after rejecting the Future-Ready Facilities plan. KDKA

- ➤ Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is recruiting 300 volunteers for Community Counts to survey people sleeping outside on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., a project that will help guide federal funding for local homelessness solutions. Allegheny County
- ➤ PennDOT announced overnight closures for the Route 65 and I-279 ramps to the Fort Duquesne Bridge in Pittsburgh from Monday to Friday (commuters should adjust their travel plans). WPXI
- ➤ Councilmember Barb Warwick will propose a bill today to raise real estate taxes 30% in 2026 to generate over $41 million for a $20 million budget shortfall and city vehicle repairs. Homeowners with properties valued at $100,000 may see tax increases of about $20 per month. WPXI
- ➤ Members of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard refueled a KC-135 mid-air above Pittsburgh International Airport, with pilots and boom operators briefing every detail before takeoff.
