- ➤ Duquesne Light Company announced $150,000 in emergency grants to help local residents facing utility and food insecurity during the shutdown – $100,000 went to the Dollar Energy Fund while $50,000 supported the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The company also protected LIHEAP applicants from service termination and offered special payment plans for furloughed workers. WPXI
- ➤ Channel 11 listed family-friendly holiday light shows across the Pittsburgh region that run through the holiday season — including Light Up Night with the tree lighting at PPG Place on Nov 22, Kennywood’s immersive display starting Nov 14, and Pittsburgh Zoo’s lantern display from Nov 22. - ➤ UPMC's narcotics addiction treatment program in Wilkinsburg will close by the end of the month because officials could not secure a safe location—patients have two weeks to find new providers and many worry about relapse. CBS Pittsburgh
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Esplanade project in Pittsburgh's Chateau neighborhood moves forward as developers bought a 15-acre plot and began clearing small structures for new retail, recreation, and restaurant spaces—starting demolition and infrastructure work on the site. Piatt Companies and Mascaro Construction say they will break ground in a few weeks—planning a $4.5M riverfront development with high-rise apartments, a marina, and possible floating homes to be completed within the next few years. - ➤ Developers are planning a new retail space called Forbes Commons in the historic Forbes Stevenson Building at 1401 Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Uptown, where the 14,600-square-foot marketplace will house up to five tenants.
