  • WTAE Channel 4 is partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and 100.7 Star, WBZZ to host a Day of Giving on Wednesday, urging residents to donate online at 4HUNGER to 50155 — a campaign to fight hunger. The food bank distributed 53 million meals across eleven counties last fiscal year — a record high after a five million meal increase.  WTAE

  • Today, Pitt teachers and programs promote linguistic justice to help students use the language they know best and keep their cultural identity—a support that benefits international students and those using nontraditional English forms.   • A PA Lottery Cash 5 jackpot worth $870,000 was won on Sunday when a ticket sold at the Uni-Mart on Fern Hollow Road in Moon Township matched all five numbers — winners should sign their ticket and call 1-800-692-7481 to claim the prize within one year.  KDKA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After four years of construction, Pittsburgh International Airport is set to open its new terminal soon after more than a decade of planning. The terminal will boost travel for the community as it begins a new phase of service.  CBS Pittsburgh

HEALTH NEWS

  • A University of Pittsburgh lab led by scientist Graham Hatfull has developed synthetic phages—viruses made from scratch—to kill tough bacteria that cause bad infections. The method, which will be published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences later this week, may help design endless new ways to treat these germs.  The Tribune-Review

SPORTS NEWS

  • ESPN will broadcast College GameDay live from the North Shore from 9 a.m. to noon later this week as No. 24 Pitt (7–2) takes on No. 10 Notre Dame (7–2) in the Panthers' big game. Pitt Athletic Director Allen Greene said the event is an important chance to show the city’s pride and the program’s drive as the show returns for the first time since 2022.  WPXI
  • The Steelers' defense struggled against the Chargers as T.J. Watt said they must not rely on turnovers alone to win the game. Team captain Cam Heyward said the players need to focus on stopping the run and finishing plays.  PennLive
  • On Sunday afternoon, the No. 3 Pitt volleyball team won 3-0 against Virginia with Haiti Tautua’a making 31 assists and strong plays from key teammates. Pitt will travel to play No. 5 Stanford on Friday — Cal on Sunday.  WPXI
  • The Steelers lost to the Chargers when cornerback Darius Slay suffered a concussion after a collision with teammate Kyle Dugger (he did not return to the game and was taken to the medical tent). He must clear concussion protocol in seven days to be eligible for the game against the Bengals.  PennLive
