EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a special meeting last night, the Pittsburgh Public Schools board heard a two-hour presentation on the Future-Ready Facilities Implementation Plan, which proposes closing nine schools including Baxter, Friendship, Fulton, Manchester, McKelvey, Morrow, Schiller, Spring Hill and Woolslair to save $102.9 million in future facility costs — funds that will be reinvested to address inequities and aging facilities. The board will hold a follow-up meeting on November 17 and will vote on the plan at its November legislative meeting, with full implementation set to begin in fall 2026. WTAE
