  • Jesse Vargo, 38 — a lifelong fan of Halloween — built a haunted audiovisual experience called Haunted Path at his apartment building at 515 Sixth St in Irwin with his husband Nick Costanzo, featuring holograms, animatronics, and scenes including a 12-foot vampire. Visitors can walk the free path on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m. while donations support Feeding the Spirit, a nonprofit that supplies free meals to those in need.  The Tribune-Review

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Over the weekend, a flight attendant accidentally deployed the emergency slide at Pittsburgh International Airport gate, delaying travelers for hours.  WPXI
  • During Monday night's Penguins game against the Blues, a fan fell from the 200 level stands at PPG Paints Arena, striking someone in the suites and suffering critical injuries. Pittsburgh EMS and arena staff responded quickly — the injured fan was taken to a nearby hospital.  KDKA

  • Lisa Lambert — a longtime professor and administrator at Chatham University — was named its 21st president. She said she is honored and plans to use her experience to guide the university in the future.  The Tribune-Review
  • Yesterday, Pittsburgh's Action News 4 visited Donaldson Elementary in Oakdale to surprise fifth-grade teacher Lyndy Stout after naming her WTAE Teacher of the Month for October. She expressed heartfelt gratitude during a school assembly that featured a $1,000 donation from Closets by Design—supporting her ongoing efforts in inspiring her students.  WTAE

  • Allegheny County and Neighborhood Allies launched a free legacy planning program at the County Financial Empowerment Center to help local families protect assets.   • Allegheny County health officials are using billboards and social media to fight vaccine hesitancy as routine shots drop, following new CDC rules that say patients must talk to a provider before being vaccinated (a change that has confused many).
