CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pitt Stages presented Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson — Apt. 2B yesterday at Pitt’s Richard E. Rauh Studio Theatre in the Cathedral of Learning’s basement and will run until Nov. 2, with performances scheduled at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Directed by KJ Gilmer with Tonya Lynn as fight coordinator, the darkly comic play twists Sherlock Holmes stories with adult themes and stage blood. - ➤ The University of Pittsburgh will hold its 55th annual Jazz Seminar and Concert from November 3 to 8 with a special Percussion Discussion that includes free workshops and community performances. The event will end with a concert at Bellefield Hall on November 8 at 8 p.m.—bringing together original members of M’Boom and new artists to blend traditional and modern rhythms. University Times
- ➤ On Sunday, Jewish oral historians Aliza Becker and Noah Schoen will release the first six episodes of the October 27th Podcast, which shares local voices drawn from over 100 interviews about the Tree of Life shooting (the project adapts material from the Meanings of October 27th oral history project and plans more episodes in December). - ➤ On Nov. 6, the Office of Planning, Design & Construction will preview a new Campus Master Plan at the Barco Law Building from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the event will be live streamed; the plan—shaped by feedback from campus and Oakland—explores long-range proposals including repurposing buildings for student housing without serving as a short-term capital budget request. - ➤ At a Faculty Assembly meeting on Oct. 8th, Pitt faculty heard an update that the university is revising its general education curriculum to create one unified model — a change from the current nine separate models. The university will hold online and in-person Gen Ed Drafting Days on Oct. 30th and Nov. 4th to gather feedback from faculty and staff. University Times
- ➤ Students and staff at Pitt are pushing for better campus access as steep hills and awkward room setups make it hard for disabled students to move around and learn. University officials say they are updating older buildings and improving shuttle services—steps meant to help the growing number of students using disability resources. The Pitt News

- ➤ The new terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport is expected to open before Thanksgiving after officials run a full-scale dress rehearsal today with (2,500) volunteers to simulate a busy travel rush; the three-hour test will start at (9 a.m.) to check upgraded security and baggage claim systems. - ➤ Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh is continuing its free care clinic today at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center — nearly 2,000 volunteers provide free medical, dental, and vision care to those in need without appointments or income checks. CBS Pittsburgh

- ➤ The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to counter Packers star Micah Parsons—who has shown dominant and disruptive play since his trade—as he is expected to challenge the team with his versatility.
