  • Today, local fall events bring fun to the region as Fort Ligonier Days continues with its parade and a 5K race planned for Sunday while the Coraopolis Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Seven Springs Autumnfest, Pittsburgh Oktoberfest’s final weekend, and the Fall RV Show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center add live music, crafts, and family activities until Sunday — locals can choose from a full weekend of outdoor fun.  CBS Pittsburgh

  • This weekend, a World War II veteran from Pittsburgh will be laid to rest in Allegheny County after his remains, which were unidentified for 80 years, were confirmed with DNA tests. Visitation will be held Sunday at H.P.   • Giant Eagle is growing its pharmacy business by taking on Rite Aid customers and starting a new company—GallientRX—to handle pharmacy benefits. The new plan sends full money to pharmacies while charging a monthly fee, and it promises clearer pricing and fairer competition.  The Tribune-Review

  • Tours of Pittsburgh’s historic skyscrapers, called the 'Wall Street of Pittsburgh,' will let visitors learn how early entrepreneurs followed trends from Chicago and New York in the late 1800s—local experts will explain the key architectural details and its impact on the city’s growth.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
  • PNC Broadway Pittsburgh opened its production of SIX at the Benedum Center on Tuesday. The musical retells Henry VIII’s marriage history with solos, group numbers, modern costumes—letting the former wives reclaim their stories for the audience.  The Pitt News

  • Frost set in across western Pennsylvania on October 10th, and gardeners were advised by Penn State Extension’s Erin Kinley to harvest green tomatoes, bring in sensitive crops, and cover basil and peppers with a frost blanket — while hardier vegetables like kale and Brussels sprouts can be left outside.  CBS Pittsburgh

FINANCE NEWS

  • A customer at Super Mart in Kennedy Township won $950,000 on a Match 6 Lotto ticket sold on Oct. 9—matching the numbers 5, 19, 21, 22, 38, 43—as the store will receive a $5,000 bonus; state police reported that a 52-year-old woman is accused of stealing over $80,000 in scratch tickets from a BP station in Irwin. This development leaves the ticket holder one year to claim the prize.  WTAE

SPORTS NEWS

  • Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi named first-year quarterback Mason Heintschel as the starter after he led the team to a 48-7 win over Boston College and earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors. Pitt will face No. 25 Florida State in Tallahassee soon and will rely on its strong defense—one of the best in the nation—to force turnovers.  The Pitt News
  • Calvin Austin III is ruled out for the Steelers game against the Browns because he hurt his shoulder against the Vikings in Ireland and went to a hospital. X-rays were negative for a fracture—his return will be decided by his medical team while new players get a chance to step up.  PennLive
  • On Friday morning on the North Shore, officials from the local NFL Draft committee and city representatives unveiled new branding for the 2026 NFL Draft that features the taglines The Pick Is In and Greatness is on the Clock. Organizers said the bold design — inspired by Pittsburgh's pop art and industrial roots — will showcase the city as it prepares to host the event in April.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Southmoreland’s new LED lights and artificial turf at Russ Grimm Field have helped the Scotties football team start 7-0 as they prepare to face Mt. Pleasant Area Friday night. Former player Russ Grimm and coach Dustin Shoaf credited the team’s strong spirit and community support—700 tickets were pre-sold—for their promising turnaround.  The Tribune-Review
