- ➤ An animal rescue in Tarentum installed a 24/7 microchip scanner outside its rescue house on East Sixth Avenue to help reunite lost pets with their owners — the scanner links chips to a nationwide registry. - ➤ A 5K race was held in Canonsburg on September 14 by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (with about 650 participants) to raise nearly $100,000 for veterans and gold star families. Ninety-six percent of the money helped pay off mortgages and fund smart home upgrades for those in need. WPXI
- ➤ Leaders from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank report that nearly 320,000 neighbors are food insecure and local food lines are growing higher than during the pandemic's peak.
