CRIME NEWS

  • Westmoreland County Community College—New Kensington went into lockdown after a police incident began at 12:35 p.m. on September 8, prompting a response from local officials.  WPXI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Poulet Bleu — a French bistro in Lawrenceville — will reopen on Oct. 21 after nearly five years of closure. The restaurant will serve dinner from Tuesday to Saturday with a menu that includes French classics like duck confit and French onion soup.  WPXI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Western Pennsylvania jumped by 11 cents last week due to a temporary outage at the Midwest’s largest refinery—prices quickly stabilized when it resumed operations. In Pennsylvania the average cost is $3.379 per gallon, while many Pittsburgh area counties are paying between $3.50 and $3.646.  WPXI

  • Two winning Powerball tickets worth $100,000 each were sold in Allegheny County for Saturday’s drawing. Ticket holders will have a chance to claim their prize when the drawing takes place later—Powerball.  WPXI

  • During Sunday's game, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said his team got hosed on a missed defensive pass interference call that could have let them run out the clock—Chris Boswell made a 60 yard field goal in the final minute to secure the win.  PennLive
  • Former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields shined for the Jets on Sept 7 as he completed 16 of 22 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns—he said his team 'put up 32.'
