ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, a concert fundraiser raised money for the families of workers affected by an explosion at the Clairton Coke Plant that killed two and injured 10, with events including a raffle, basket auction and bake sale—another fundraiser is planned for September 8 at Texas Roadhouse. WTAE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kenneth Crider pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 months to 10 years in prison for robbing an 87-year-old veteran and stealing his car with his dog Lucky inside; police said Lucky remains missing after being reportedly left at a North Carolina service station. WTAE
- ➤ Antonia Quesen, 26, pleaded guilty but mentally ill on Monday to third-degree murder for stabbing off-duty agent Benjamin Brallier on Montour Trail in Moon on Oct. 21 and to a 2023 robbery at Point State Park; she will be sentenced on Nov. 18 by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski — state law requires her incarceration in a mental health facility. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Pennsylvania's Attorney General Dave Sunday joined calls for emergency federal action in a letter last week warning about bromazolam — a dangerous drug dubbed designer Xanax that killed dozens in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties and resists Narcan — urging the DEA to limit its spread.
