ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Staffers from the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board are arriving in Clairton today to investigate Monday’s fatal explosion at U.S. Steel’s Coke Works, where five workers remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition — local detectives and fire marshal officials have begun interviewing witnesses.  KDKA

CRIME NEWS

  • At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Pittsburgh police found 24 year old Stanley Andre Howe Jr. with gunshot wounds and injuries from being struck by a vehicle on Wiltsie Street in Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar — his grieving mother, Constance Moyer, who learned of his death from his grandmother, has been waiting for a response from homicide detectives and the Mayor as the investigation continues.  WTAE
  • A man was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition after he was shot multiple times on Wednesday night at around 9:30 p.m. on the 700 block of 6th Street in McKeesport—police report no arrests as of early Thursday morning.  WTAE

  • Today, Pittsburgh kicks off a lively weekend with Little Italy Days in Bloomfield—featuring food, music, and a street fair—while Josh Johnson and Michael Misko perform comedy and magic shows on Friday and Saturday.
