ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash occurred around 4 a.m. yesterday on Route 28 near the East Ohio Street and Chestnut Street exits in Pittsburgh, and one person was taken to the hospital—police continue to investigate—and the northbound lanes remain closed. WTAE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Springdale man faced animal cruelty and abuse charges after police found two dogs living in deplorable conditions on Rosslyn Avenue on July 29, officials said the dogs were not let outside with one suffering a severe neck injury—additional charges may be filed. WTAE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation awarded scholarships totaling $60,000 to 22 local students, including 10 high school graduates from Pittsburgh Public Schools and Allegheny County who received the 2025 Penguins Foundation Scholarships. The awards include $3,000 for first-year aid and $2,000 for second-year aid as well as two athletic and hockey scholarships of $5,000 each — helping students pursue their college education. WPXI

- ➤ State lawmakers in Pennsylvania plan to study if Penn State Fayette can become a military college after the campus closes in 2027 — Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa said no study will begin until it clearly benefits the community and students.
