- ➤ Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh is waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats six months or older until Sunday to celebrate their unofficial birthdays. Adoptions, which include a spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, a microchip and a health check, will take place at the East Side Shelter (6926 Hamilton Avenue) and North Side Shelter (1101 Western Avenue). - ➤ A West Virginia man was charged after TSA officers seized a gun and ammunition at Pittsburgh International Airport on August 8. WPXI
- ➤ A Pennsylvania appeals court reinstated Pittsburgh officer Keith Edmonds, who was fired after repeatedly using his Taser on a homeless man that died the next day—city officials plan to appeal the ruling. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Houston Borough officials report that PennDOT crews and state representative Jason Ortitay helped clear flood debris from under the bridge — on State Route 519 — after severe flooding last April. Officials say the cleanup will finish early next week and may lead to more efforts to reduce flooding for the borough’s 1,200 residents. WPXI

- ➤ Former Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke said Cam Heyward is doing the right thing by asking for a pay raise after an All-Pro season—Heyward had eight sacks last season and no guaranteed money on his current contract. PennLive
