- ➤ Developers presented initial ideas on August 7 to redevelop the former Cheswick Power Station into a hyperscale AI data center aimed at serving companies like Google, Amazon and Meta — the plan includes a 565,000-square-foot data center and a 200,000-square-foot cooling building that could create 80 to 100 full-time jobs, with formal planning applications and public hearings set to follow while local mitigation measures for noise, light and energy use are promised.
