ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Homeowners in Plum filed lawsuits in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court over a fatal house explosion in the Rustic Ridge development in 2023 that destroyed three houses and damaged a dozen others. The lawsuits name Penneco Oil Company—Peoples Natural Gas, A.O. Smith Corp. and Grasinger Homes and allege that the companies were negligent in failing to stop a gas leak that sparked the explosion.  The Tribune-Review

  • Pittsburgh Police are looking for a missing 13-year-old—reported on July 31st—who may need medical attention.  WPXI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Club Cafe, a popular music venue on the South Side, will reopen Thursday with a four-day celebration—featuring live music from over 20 acts—after being bought by Keystone Artist Connect in April, seven months after its closure.  WPXI
  • Pittsburgh will host 12 fun events this August featuring art, food, pop culture and community gatherings; highlights include Barrel & Flow (Aug 9) and Steel City Con (Aug 8 to 10) offering live music and diverse activities for all ages.  NEXTpittsburgh
  • Today, Sewickley Shoe Repair is featured in the upcoming documentary 'Beneath The Sole' about cobbler Mario Ulizzi who repairs shoes by hand. Director Ryan Rust began filming on July 7 and will return in September — the film aims to show the local tradition of skilled craftsmanship.  The Tribune-Review

  • North Allegheny Senior High School built new bocce outdoor courts to support its Special Olympics Unified Bocce program and help students practice easily. Head coach Rachel Tengowski said the new courts will boost teamwork and inclusion — they are made for use during classes and clubs.  WTAE
