CRIME NEWS

  • A man was shot in the head at 11:45 p.m. Sunday on the 2400 block of Bedford Avenue — he is in critical condition at a hospital — as police search for the shooter.  WTAE
  • Pittsburgh Public Safety responded overnight to a domestic incident in Garfield when police and SWAT were called to the 5100 block of Broad Street—where a man was reportedly barricaded inside his home and a woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition—and officers later said they did not find the suspect while the investigation continues.  WTAE
  • Allegheny County police charged Justin Stanley, 47, of Negley, Ohio after TSA officers found a gun in his carry-on bag at Pittsburgh International Airport around 7:40 a.m. Sunday because he did not have a valid concealed carry permit plus officials say this violation can lead to federal fines of up to $10,000 with higher penalties for repeat offenders.  WPXI

  • Lawmakers introduced a spending bill that cuts clean energy credits—reducing benefits from Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and affecting local solar projects. The legislation may weaken incentives for renewable energy, potentially slowing new solar developments in Pennsylvania.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pittsburgh Regional Transit opened five new bus stations—Ross Street, William Penn, Market Square, Wood Street and Steel Plaza—on Sunday as part of its $291 million University Line Bus Rapid Transit Project that features weather-resistant canopies, seats and real-time arrival screens. The upgrades serve about 30,000 daily riders between Downtown and Oakland, and phase 2 will add 18 new stations by the end of 2027.  WPXI
