- ➤ Crews are repairing a water main break in South Side Flats today — work that began last night — and officials say repairs should be completed soon. WPXI
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In a Fayette County house fire that started at 2 a.m. July 16 in Dunbar Township, caretaker Anthony Masterbray stayed inside with his paralyzed client while urging the father to get help—saving lives even though the client's mother later died and all survivors were taken to the hospital. WPXI
- ➤ Last week, PennDOT announced phase two work on the Birmingham Bridge and Thursday evening, a PRT bus became stuck at a construction barrier so passengers walked across the bridge after one individual moved it to free the bus. Police responded to a four-vehicle collision at 4:30 p.m. and a tractor-trailer incident at 5:30 p.m. — the traffic backup lasted 30 to 40 minutes and delayed commuters and businesses. WTAE
- ➤ On Sunday afternoon in the Chateau neighborhood, Nathaniel Bunn and his family rushed to help after a car rolled over and, when the jammed door kept them from freeing the driver, he sat on Western Avenue holding her hand until paramedics arrived — later learning no one was in critical condition. - ➤ A new honorary street sign now reads 'Gus & Yiayia Way' at the corner of West Ohio Street and Brighton Road in the North Side to honor Gus Kalaris, whose famous ice ball cart has served shaved ice, peanuts and popcorn to Pittsburghers since 1934. Mayor Ed Gainey & Councilman Bobby Wilson joined Gus's daughter Christina Avlon at the ceremony held Thursday as the Kalaris family said they will continue running the cart into the future. WTAE
- ➤ This weekend, Blues and Roots Fest and Flood City Music are hosting music events in Pittsburgh that feature performers like Toto — Kesha — and symphonic Nas. The festivals will bring a mix of blues, roots, and modern sounds for local fans. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

- ➤ A new company is buying the shuttered glass plant in Charleroi and will reopen it as an industrial glass facility by year-end, which could rehire over 250 workers after the facility closed earlier this year.
