- ➤ The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is giving more than $7.5 million in grants to support Jewish organizations locally, in Israel and around the world, and has approved $400,000 in Community Priority Grants for local services—federal funding cuts have made these flexible dollars especially needed. Officials say the money comes from donors and will help organizations meet critical community needs. WPXI

- ➤ On Aug 12, 2023, a massive explosion at a Plum family home killed Taylor Oravitz's parents and five others and damaged many buildings—Taylor, now in Pittsburgh, said she still struggles with grief without getting the answers she needs while she and her brother continue memorial traditions. - ➤ Charles George — a 61-year-old retiree — said he was on the ground crying for God after being shot on June 23rd in East Liberty while walking to his brother’s house, and police quickly returned his wallet, keys, and shoes taken as evidence after he contacted Chief Investigator Rick Earle. WPXI
- ➤ Allegheny County Jail suspended corrections officer Brian Davis after a video showed him holding a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire — making racist remarks, and an investigation is underway. WTAE
