CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded to three separate ShotSpotter alerts on Pittsburgh’s North Side where investigators found one man with a gunshot to his back on Osgood Street and a second man shot in the back near Lyzell Street—two vehicles sustained bullet damage and multiple shell casings were recovered while a third man with a leg wound was taken to a hospital.  WTAE
  • Two women were injured in a shooting in Homestead on Monday night at the 1200 block of Hays Street, where one received two gunshot wounds to her leg and was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition while the other was grazed on her shoulder and did not need hospital treatment — police have not announced any arrests.  WTAE
  • Three men were shot in the Perry South neighborhood on July 15, and detectives investigating separate scenes found multiple shell casings—two cars were hit by bullets.  WPXI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pittsburgh Public Schools recorded nearly 11,000 citations for drivers illegally passing school buses last school year, including 1,025 on Penn Avenue in Friendship and two stretches on 5th Avenue in Shadyside—each offense carrying a $300 fine that will fund school bus safety programs.  WTAE
