CULTURE NEWS

  • Bishop Mark Eckman was installed as the 13th bishop of the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese yesterday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland—he is 66 and from Bethel Park—and was named by Pope Leo XIV to replace the retiring Bishop David A. Zubik.  The Tribune-Review
  • The slender spire of the 91-year-old Heinz Memorial Chapel was restored after a long project that began in March 2023 and ended last month — the work fixed rusted steel and reattached decorative grotesques that had been removed for repair — and it came in under a $11.5 million budget.
