- ➤ Brunton Dairy reopened two years after a massive fire destroyed the farm — the dairy has restored its operations for local customers. CBS Pittsburgh
- ➤ Since January of last year, 27% of pharmacies have closed and local pharmacists say low reimbursement rates from pharmacy benefit managers are forcing extra travel for patients and more business closures. The Pennsylvania Pharmacy Association is meeting with pharmacy owners this week and is urging patients to tell lawmakers to change the rules — a fix needed to keep prescriptions close to home — in hopes of keeping more local stores open. - ➤ A 170-year-old whiskey distillery on the South Shore has been turned into a six-story entertainment venue that includes a rooftop restaurant, cigar lounge and event space, with Big Spring Spirits opening a bottle shop on the first floor. Tony Mazzarini said the venue will open the week of July 28 and will offer indoor—outdoor spaces—where guests can enjoy views of Pittsburgh’s skyline and busy river activity. WTAE

- ➤ In June, two men broke into a home on Eleanor Street in Smith Township at around 1:15 a.m.—911 calls were made from inside after shots were fired resulting in the death of Renee Lynn Gill and the hospitalization of her son—and they later fled to Ohio with a phone and drugs while facing homicide charges. - ➤ City Council held a public hearing Tuesday on a $500M proposal to expand Bakery Square in the East End nearly a year after the Planning Commission approved the plan—council will soon schedule an initial vote on extending the special zoning district to cover an additional 14 acres. The developer, Walnut Capital, also committed to contributing $25M toward affordable housing as part of the community benefits deal. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ County Executive Sara Innamorato said the Innamorato Administration has completed or made progress on 98% of community priorities — including easier elections, new public safety options, and more affordable housing. The administration also launched programs like 500 in 500 and 1st Home Allegheny and started a public Climate Action Plan engagement — which will guide future efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
