- ➤ Police responded to a vehicle crash early Tuesday at Cloud King on Brookline Boulevard when an SUV hit the front of the business—officials say the cause remains unknown and it is unclear if anyone was injured. WTAE

- ➤ Pittsburgh-based EQT Corp. bought local competitor Olympus Energy for $1.8B last week to boost its hold on natural gas fields in southwestern Pennsylvania amid rising demand. The deal gives EQT control of more than 100,000 acres (mostly in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties) while the industry looks to meet growing gas needs. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ A Carnegie man, James Brandon Lewis, 41, was arrested on three felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and six misdemeanor counts of neglect after police said he left his three dogs outside in hot June without food or water — one dog suffered brain swelling and died and his preliminary hearing is set for July 24. - ➤ Government agencies, environmental groups and universities will survey Ross and Shaler this summer for abandoned oil and gas wells that may leak harmful gases—using metal-detecting drones and backpack magnetometers to locate them.
