- ➤ Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. bought the former B’Nai Israel synagogue on North Negley Ave and, with BOOM Concepts as the key tenant, will change it into a 500-seat arts and events center that will serve as a hub for local creativity. The group plans to start $350,000 in repairs soon—followed by $1.6 million in upgrades through fall 2029. NEXTpittsburgh
- ➤ Anthrocon, the annual furry convention, began Thursday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and continues through Sunday—local officials expect the event to attract over 19,000 attendees and generate nearly $21 million in visitor spending. More than 12,000 hotel rooms have been booked in 21 local hotels, and the nearly 20-year tradition remains a beloved summer attraction in the city. WTAE

- ➤ The Department of Public Works granted permits for PDP and Flyspace Productions to close the Roberto Clemente Bridge from 9 a.m. Monday, July 7 to 4 p.m. Monday, July 14 and the Andy Warhol Bridge from 9 a.m. Monday, July 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 15—closures needed for Picklesburgh. Northbound traffic will be detoured via Fort Duquesne Boulevard, the Rachel Carson Bridge, Anderson Street, and East Lacock Street while southbound drivers will use Federal Street, East General Robinson Street, Anderson Street, the Rachel Carson Bridge, and Fort Duquesne Boulevard. - ➤ The Department of Public Works announced that Penn Avenue Extension in Wilkins and Turtle Creek will close on Monday, July 7 at 9 a.m. for construction of a retaining wall, sidewalk, and guide rail replacement near Aliquippa—traffic will detour via Graham Boulevard, William Penn Highway, Beulah Road, Brown Avenue and Tri-Boro Expressway until work ends in October. - ➤ The Allegheny County Department of Public Works closed Jacks Run Road Bridge No. 3 over I-279 in Ross Township today after crews found corroded steel in its only pier — officials detoured traffic via Brighton Road, Lincoln Avenue, North Balph Avenue and Bellevue Road while they work to set a timetable for repairs or replacement — and will update the public when a plan is set.
