COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The first annual BBQ and Bands Festival is underway at the Monroeville Convention Center for a three-day event featuring national award-winning ribs and live tribute bands. Local visitors can enjoy exciting food and music from celebrated vendors — drawing fans from across Pittsburgh. WPXI
- ➤ The world's largest rubber duck—joined by her duckling—is returning to Pittsburgh this weekend. Local organizers say the display will be part of a community event drawing visitors from around the area. WPXI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Officers arrested a man near PNC Park after he allegedly stabbed a convenience store employee on Friday around 1:14 p.m. in downtown Pittsburgh on the 600 block of Liberty Avenue — the victim was found with a stab wound to his ribs. The Tribune-Review
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At the Whiskey Throttle Fair held Saturday morning at Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Mt. Pleasant Township, car and motorcycle fans gathered to see antique and newer vehicles, live stunt shows, tattoo artists, and local vendors. Joe Fidanzato proudly showed his restored 1981 GMC Diablo built over 20 years—while event organizer Mike Morelli said he plans to make the fair an annual event to support local businesses. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials introduced a new chaperone policy at Ormsby Pool in Pittsburgh’s South Side on Saturday after repeated violations, requiring anyone 15 or younger to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older (chaperones must show ID for proof of age). A similar measure was implemented last year at Highland Park pool after violent incidents among teenagers (enforcing proper supervision at public pools). The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Dave Parker died at 74 on June 28 and was known for his key role on the 1979 championship team + he was a lasting sports icon in our community. WPXI
