COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Community members will rally outside UPMC Headquarters in downtown on Sunday to demand that affirming care for trans youth continues. The protest comes one day before families are expected to receive formal notice that UPMC will end services for youth under 19, including therapy and puberty blockers. KDKA
- ➤ On June 13th, Sewickley resident April Schmitt lost her diamond engagement ring at Pittsburgh International Airport when her bag caught on the baggage carousel. Airport staff found the diamond after a careful search and Schmitt plans to have it reset this week—she later dropped off thank you gifts for the helpers. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Pittsburgh native sports analyst Pat McAfee, rapper Wiz Khalifa, and music icon Snoop Dogg donated $50,000 to Pittsburgh Public Schools on Wednesday—according to district legislative meeting minutes. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

- ➤ Crews are repairing power lines and telephone poles as Grove Road remains closed in Whitehall from Spring Valley Drive to Springmeadow Court after multiple telephone poles broke and transmission lines and transformers went down. The police advise residents to avoid the area near Grove Road at Spring Valley Drive, Caste Drive, Daube Drive, and Parliament Place until repairs are complete. WPXI
- ➤ Service workers at Pittsburgh International Airport asked Airport Authority executives for support in forming a union and setting an airport-wide wage standard during a board meeting, saying better working conditions were needed. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
- ➤ Today, the PRT board approved a $539 million budget that cuts service by 35% and raises fares by 9% (after multiple hearings). PRT CEO Katherine Kelleman said the board acted to meet a mandated deadline (with plans to adjust the budget later as lawmakers work on state funding). KDKA
