Tenaris announced more than $90 million to upgrade its Koppel steel shop and Ambridge pipe facility (building on a previous $150 million investment) to boost safety and production efficiency.

UPMC and Highmark announced on Thursday a $45 million investment over the next five years to boost emergency care in Pittsburgh.

Highmark will commit $20 million to first-response services and UPMC will spend $25 million on EMS vehicles + equipment.

The Pirates placed first baseman Spencer Horwitz on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left hamstring injury he sustained in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the Mariners — the team recalled infielder Jack Brannigan from Double-A Altoona.
