  • Joey Porter Jr. hosted his first football camp for underserved kids in Pittsburgh today to offer training and mentorship—helping local youth learn and grow.  WPXI

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday morning to reports of shots fired on the 600 block of Perrysville Avenue in Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood and found a woman grazed by a bullet; she was given aid on the scene and taken to a local hospital where she remains stable.  WTAE
  • Police responded to two ShotSpotter alerts around 11:45 p.m. in East Liberty where two people were shot and several others grazed by bullets; three victims were taken to hospitals, two arrived at Children’s Hospital by private vehicle, and 10 others received treatment for minor injuries—officials continue to investigate the incident.  WTAE
  • A woman was injured after 19 gunshots were fired early Sunday morning in Perry South – Pittsburgh police are investigating the shooting.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
  • Timothy Phillips, a 60-year-old man wanted for a 2023 shooting in McKees Rocks that injured a man and a woman, was arrested in North Braddock Sunday morning when police found him in a home basement during a domestic call — he had earlier led officers on a chase after his vehicle was tracked.  WPXI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hundreds of individuals from the Pittsburgh region raised over $84,000 for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation during their annual walk on June 22 to support research for a cure—organizers said the funds will boost efforts to develop new treatments for the life-threatening disease.  WPXI

  • Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. said Steelers pass rusher Alex Highsmith did not get the credit he deserves. Brown, who played for the Bengals and Ravens, noted Highsmith’s strong impact on Pittsburgh’s defense—an impact many overlook.  PennLive
