- ➤ Eight distinguished alumni from Valley High and its predecessor schools will be honored at the homecoming football game on Sept. 26 as part of the New Kensington-Arnold School District’s distinguished alumni class, announced by School Director Sarah Yurga. The honorees, chosen from ten nominations, include a conservationist + a military leader + a photojournalist + a chaplain + an educator and coach + a doctor researching neurodegeneration + a special education director + a bioengineering scholar. - ➤ Allegheny County Jail and local shelter Animal Friends launched TAILS, a pilot program pairing shelter dogs with incarcerated women who learn pet care skills when Ethel, a 2-year-old 38-pound mixed breed, joined the unit on June 11.
