A 2-year-old girl drowned in an East Pittsburgh pool on Thursday.

A 30-year-old man from Ohio was arrested for stabbing a 65-year-old man on Liberty Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday, with the victim suffering multiple stab wounds and in critical condition — the suspect now faces charges of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Two men and one woman pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges in connection with a 2022 North Side shooting — which killed Stephone Drayton and injured three others — in Pittsburgh.

Neighbors heard five shots (from the 17-hundred block of Wesley Street) in Wilkinsburg around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and first responders later found 18-year-old Deglin St. Clair on a home porch after he was shot in the stomach and taken to a hospital where he died.

The four-day Juneteenth celebration in Mellon Park is underway with live music, speakers, medical screenings, over 150 vendors, youth sports events and a downtown parade on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Producer William 'B' Marshall said last year the event drew about 70,000 visitors and generated $5 million — it moved here for the first time because Point State Park is under renovation — and he urged local residents to support vendors while honoring the end of slavery in the United States.

The Pennsylvania House passed a transit funding bill on June 18 that invests $292 million in public transit — if approved by the Senate, Pittsburgh Regional Transit will get $40 million to help prevent service cuts.

The extra funds may be used to repair roads and bridges and keep buses running without fare hikes.
