  • Eckerd Connects said it will permanently close the Pittsburgh Job Corps Center at 7175 Highland Drive by June 30, laying off 180 workers after the Department of Labor ended its contract; a federal judge has temporarily halted the closure order and will hear the agency's argument on Tuesday.  PennLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Steelers safety DeShon Elliott signed a two-year deal for $12.5 million with $9.21 million guaranteed—this deal keeps him with the team through 2027. He said he is happy to stay with the Steelers and thanked the Rooney family and his coaches for the chance to play.  PennLive
  • The Steelers traded wide receiver George Pickens for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 Day 3 pick swap because team insiders said his maturity issues might not mesh well with new signing Aaron Rodgers. The team had pursued Rodgers for two months before he signed — a factor that contributed to the trade decision.  PennLive
  • Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf impressed during minicamp in his first week with his new team. His performance on the field raised expectations for his role — and set a promising tone for the season.  PennLive
  • Eight youth baseball teams of players aged 14 or 15 played at PNC Park Tuesday—an event organized by Big League Dream Day in partnership with the Pirates. Organizers said the games were the first hosted at the ballpark and plan to add more teams in the future.  WTAE
