- ➤ Pittsburgh officials celebrated the grand reopening of Ream Pool after major repairs (the pool now has improved safety features), which shows the city is investing in its parks. The improvements will give neighbors a better place to swim and play (future upgrades may add more amenities). WPXI
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ South Strabane Township experienced heavy rain that caused flash floods, a sinkhole off Oak Spring Road which grew from a truck bed size to 25 by 25 feet wide and 16 feet deep, and 40 emergency calls; firefighters worked more than 30 hours attending to stranded vehicles, electrical fires, and flooded areas—raising concerns over the local infrastructure. - ➤ First responders are working to rescue two people trapped in a car that is caught 40 feet over a hillside in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood. WPXI

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a hearing on June 12 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, over 80 community members and officials told PRT that planned service cuts and a fare hike are set to reduce access to jobs, housing, and healthcare while the agency faces a budget shortfall of over $100 million. The proposed changes—cutting 35% of service, including a 62% reduction in ADA services, eliminating 41 bus routes, and raising fares starting in February—have sparked strong local concerns as the public comment period remains open through June 18 at 5 p.m. Pittsburgh City Paper
- ➤ Gov. Shapiro and Pennsylvania lawmakers are under pressure to agree on a new spending plan—one that considers proposals to legalize marijuana for adults, raise the minimum wage and tax skill games in bars and restaurants.
