- ➤ Pittsburgh police detectives are searching for Kiemoni Thompson, a 12-year-old with special needs who was last seen riding a green bike with black lettering and wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants — he is often seen in Carrick and Larimer and anyone with information is urged to call 911. - ➤ Pittsburgh International Airport’s Cargo 4 facility handled its first official cargo flights when four Boeing 747-400F freighters left for Europe on June 09 at 1:38 p.m. The 77,000-square-foot building — designed to serve two wide-body aircraft at once — did not yet have any permanent cargo operators. - ➤ Hillman Library at the University of Pittsburgh is undergoing a $130M makeover that has been visible on Forbes Avenue in Oakland for the past seven years+ the project will update library spaces and technology to support student learning. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

- ➤ Pennsylvania American Water will replace over 350 lead service lines in Pittsburgh and Mount Oliver starting June 16 using a $1.6 million low-interest loan and a $3.3 million grant from PENNVEST—contractors in high-visibility vests will inspect line materials and offer free replacement advice when needed. - ➤ A Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed legislation to ban plastic bags from all supermarkets—expanding the ban already in effect in Pittsburgh. If approved, supermarkets statewide will stop offering plastic bags. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
- ➤ The City of Pittsburgh announced its Fourth of July celebrations will be held at the North Shore Riverwalk with additional events at Emerald View Park’s Grandview Bandstand due to Point State Park construction. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with a children’s fun zone, musical performances and a hot-air balloon while fireworks will start at 9:35 p.m. — officials also plan to highlight programs for veterans.
