ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Flash flooding hit Murrysville and areas near Turtle Creek on Friday at 3 p.m.—stormwater quickly flooded basements and forced 95 residents to evacuate while rescue teams pulled people from flooded cars and officials began damage assessments as roads stayed closed. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Dick's Sporting Goods closed its store at Pittsburgh Mills on Sunday, leaving Macy's as the only anchor tenant and pushing shoppers to other Dick's locations. The chain will open a new store at The Waterworks from June 20 to June 22—Steelers player Joey Porter Jr. will appear on June 21—as Macy's is also on the sale list. WTAE
- ➤ Designer Betsy Wentz moved her business from 428 Walnut Street to a new 4,000 square-foot showroom at 417 Walnut Street in Sewickley after buying the building in January—she said the extra space will let her display more cabinets, fabrics and lighting for private consultations while Coffee Village remains on the first floor. - ➤ Early Sunday morning, Pittsburgh police arrested Jeremy Allen Hartman after he lit a commercial-grade firework in a casino restroom at Rivers Casino that caused minor injuries to an employee; he faces charges (arson, theft, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment) after a search of his vehicle found additional fireworks. - ➤ McCandless is asking residents to apply for a committee to help plan the town's 175th anniversary celebration in 2026, with applications due by June 15. The town will also host an open house—at Devlin Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on June 19—to gather input on its parks master plan. The Tribune-Review
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Namdar Realty Group (the mall owner) of Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer has faced nearly 200 township citations, criminal charges, and a lawsuit by real estate trusts for not fixing roads while key stores left as the mall fell into decay. The owners waived their June hearing and will face further court dates as officials seek more than $5 million in repairs. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Oakmont Country Club will host its record-setting tenth U.S. Open this week — a throwback to 1935 when Pitt graduate Sam Parks Jr won his only Major Championship with 299 strokes as a local head pro. His win remains a unique milestone in Pittsburgh golf history. The Pitt News
- ➤ The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who at 41 will be the first player in franchise history to take a snap in his 40s if he plays—he had a challenging season with 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions last year—and Steelers officials say his veteran presence creates room in the budget for another wide receiver.
