- ➤ Pools across the region are kicking off the summer season with many already open and others set to begin this week; Alameda Waterpark in Butler opens on June 6 while Belmont Complex in Kittanning began service May 30 and 31—check online for hours and fees. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Night markets are growing across Western Pa as Squirrel Hill will host events on June 27, Aug. 22 and Sept. 26; Greensburg, Allentown, New Kensington and North Huntingdon plan markets with food trucks, crafts and live music later this season. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Pool season is underway from Vandergrift to Penn Hills as crews finished major renovations and routine maintenance at facilities including the Joseph A. Petrarca Memorial Pool, where repairs followed vandalism. Renovated sites host Wednesday night swims and live stage performances, with full fixes planned for next spring (patches hold until then). - ➤ Aer Lingus flight 81 touched down at Pittsburgh International Airport on May 25, marking the region’s first nonstop service to Dublin with an Irish-themed celebration featuring live music & giveaways. - ➤ Residents from Alle Kiski Valley are riding a bus today to Harrisburg to ask lawmakers to pass bills easing rising living costs; about 200 community members from six chapters will meet state lawmakers on Monday and gather outside the Capitol to share concerns and demand change. - ➤ West Deer nurse Randy Crim at UPMC St. Margaret relies on his diabetic alert dog Linus to detect blood sugar drops faster than electronic sensors.
