- ➤ Shadyside's long-running Jam on Walnut event has been canceled because of capacity issues and safety concerns, but the Chamber announced a free Summer Music Series running monthly from June through September that will bring live music+food and support from local businesses. CBS Pittsburgh

- ➤ Sarris Candies is expanding its shop along Meadow Lane in Canonsburg — a new factory store with handcrafted chocolate, seasonal treats and gift offerings — and will host 45-minute factory tours with free samples at Monday’s grand opening. Online bookings open Monday and tours begin July 6. WTAE

- ➤ Allegheny County will celebrate the Andy Warhol Bridge's 100th birthday (the only U.S. bridge named for a visual artist) on Saturday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the bridge, featuring art projects, live music, and games. CBS Pittsburgh
- ➤ The Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland hosts the Carnegie International, the longest-running exhibition of contemporary art in North America that opened recently. The show features diverse art forms including neon signs and video projections and runs through Jan. 3 at the museum and four nearby venues. CBS Pittsburgh
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The state Department of Education now requires 500 public school districts to adopt structured literacy in kindergarten through third grade by the start of the 2027–28 school year, allocating $10 million to support the change. - ➤ Elementary students in Woodland Hills School District learned to build and program robots while developing teamwork and resilience in their first STEAM program (helping them overcome early setbacks). The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Pittsburgh Water announced a $32 million expansion to replace lead service lines in Bloomfield, Central Lawrenceville, Shadyside, and Highland Park. - ➤ McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority earned Pennsylvania’s 2026 EMS Agency of the Year award on May 21 at its headquarters along Grubbs Road for quality care, ongoing training, and community outreach.
