  • Dozens of local volunteers gathered at Prospect Cemetery Saturday to raise over 950 flags on veterans' graves ahead of Memorial Day. HEALTH NEWS

  • New cholesterol guidelines from the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology urge earlier testing; experts say children with family risk (genetic mutations) can start screening at 2 while most adults should begin at 19 with tests repeated every five years.   • Eli Lilly announced Medicare beneficiaries aged 65+ will access its FDA-approved weight loss pill Foundayo at a $50 copay starting July 1. Trials showed up to 13% weight loss, and the daily pill offers a simple option without injections — patients should consult doctors about potential risks.  KDKA
  • UPMC’s Dr. Saba explains that an EKG uses small adhesive electrodes (recording the heart’s electrical signals) to check heart rhythm and spot potential issues. He notes that while many abnormal readings are harmless, follow-up tests may be needed if symptoms appear.  The Tribune-Review
  • Pittsburgh pain experts tested a new opioid compound DFNZ in lab rodents with promising results; it relieved pain without causing addiction or respiratory issues, researchers said.
