CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Thousands of book lovers will gather at Carnegie Library in Oakland on May 31 for the fourth chapter of the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books—introducing a new host, new vision, and new home for the event. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
- ➤ Boaz went live to preview a tribute honoring Pennsylvania's fallen heroes. The Memorial Day event will remember those who served our community. CBS Pittsburgh
- ➤ Carnegie Science Center’s Mental Health: Mind Matters exhibit opened on March 1 and runs through Aug 17, letting visitors explore brain science through interactive activities and personal stories (sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and included with general admission). Local mental health organizations are on site on Wednesdays and Saturdays to offer support and answer questions (the exhibit is designed for visitors aged 11 and up with varying levels of engagement). - ➤ The Wall That Heals, a three‐quarter-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is on display at Shaler Area High School in Shaler Township as part of the township’s 125th anniversary observances through Memorial Day. A welcome home ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. today—additional events are planned on Saturday and Memorial Day while the wall remains open 24 hours a day. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership announced that Picklesburgh will expand its footprint for its 10th anniversary from July 11-13, covering two iconic bridges + downtown spots such as Allegheny Landing, Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Market Square, Sixth Street, and Heinz Hall Garden. The festival is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors and mark its biggest celebration yet. WPXI
