  • A new report from Feeding America shows that one in five children in Southwestern Pennsylvania are not getting enough to eat. CRIME NEWS

  • Three people charged with reselling tickets meant for underprivileged children appeared before a judge on Monday in Pittsburgh — they are part of a group of six individuals and two organizations allegedly involved in a scheme with tickets provided by the nonprofit Tickets for Kids.  WPXI
  • A person of interest in the murder of 24-year-old Jennah Seibert was taken into custody on unrelated charges, and police from local, county, state — and federal agencies are continuing to investigate her death, which occurred on April 11 in Rostraver Township.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • A man was shot in Pittsburgh’s Perry South neighborhood on Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. and taken to the hospital in critical condition + police responded to reports of shots fired while the Violent Crime Unit investigated with no suspects identified.  WTAE
  • Allegheny County police are searching for 19-year-old Ginger Bloomer from Castle Shannon who went missing after making a food delivery from a Sheetz in Green Tree at 5 a.m. on May 13; she is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall with red hair and hazel eyes, wearing black shoes, black pants with white Reebok lettering, a camouflage jacket, and a dark beanie hat (call 911 or the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit at 412-473-1251 if you have information).  WTAE

  • Kelly Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty is hosting a four-day symposium today that will explore BIPOC ownership in arts and business. The event includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, and live performances—tickets are available on a Pay What Moves You basis.  NEXTpittsburgh

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pittsburgh mayor Ed Gainey and Allegheny County Controller Corey O’Connor have made conflicting claims in debates on affordable housing, city budget, police pay, and public services ahead of the May 20 primary election. Fact-checkers found that several statements were exaggerated or misleading — leaving voters with only fragments of the full story.  The Tribune-Review
  • Pittsburgh Regional Transit will install red bus lanes in Downtown starting Monday, May 19 along Liberty, Sixth, and Fifth Avenues to improve bus service and reduce congestion—each phase has set times and traffic changes with work continuing into next week. The contractor will adjust traffic flows and maintain pedestrian access while work remains weather-dependent.  WPXI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Francis and Michael Seman, who have lived in their three-generation Arlington home for years, are very worried their house could slide off the hillside as the city’s slow work on a nearby condemned property leaves the ground unstable—heavy rains have worsened the shifting and a failed retaining wall has added to their fears. An engineer is set to finish evaluations and plans by the end of July so the city can bid on the remaining demolition and stabilization work needed to secure the area.  WPXI
