- ➤ Neighbors in Bon Air are still without power a week after storms knocked down trees, lines, and poles, and Duquesne Light now says power will be restored today — residents like Ryan Cavanaugh and the McDonough family say they see few repair crews making progress. The outage leaves many struggling to plan and prepare amid ongoing damage. WPXI
- ➤ On May 6, Page's Dairy Mart on East Carson Street in Pittsburgh's South Side handed out free ice cream cones from 4–7 p.m. to help lift spirits after severe storms left many without power – customers picked from vanilla, chocolate, or twist cake cones with optional sprinkles. WTAE
- ➤ Murrysville developer Cameron Yockey and his partner Brianna Thorpe will open three Horizon Market locations in Tarentum, downtown New Kensington and the Natrona neighborhood to bring affordable groceries to food deserts. The Tarentum store will open in May, creating about 12 jobs per site and operating from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. — delivery options will be added soon. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ A week after a deadly storm hit southwestern Pennsylvania, Lynette and Frank Sevcik were still without power in their Blawnox home on Tuesday. Their spoiled food and rising frustration grew as repair crews worked to restore service. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

- ➤ Pittsburgh-based Aurora Innovations completed its first fully autonomous semi-truck route on April 27 when its truck drove 1,200 miles on I-45 without a safety driver—CEO Chris Urmson shared a photo of the driverless ride. The company will expand operations to El Paso and Phoenix by the end of 2025 to address driver shortages and rising costs. WTAE
