CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Calvin Crew was sentenced by a judge on Monday to life without parole for kidnapping and murdering Uber driver Christina Spicuzza in 2022. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
- ➤ A woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times on the 200 block of Fourth Avenue in Rankin shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when she was leaving her vehicle and the suspect opened fire and fled—no arrests have been announced. WTAE
- ➤ Calvin Crew, convicted of killing local mother and Uber driver Christina Spicuzza, will be sentenced Monday—he was found guilty of first-degree homicide, kidnapping, robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, inflicting serious bodily injury, theft of a motor vehicle and tampering with evidence. - ➤ Calvin Crew, 26, was sentenced to life in prison plus 13–26 extra years for murdering Uber driver Christina Spicuzza, a mother of four, in a 2022 case where he forced her to drive him from Pitcairn before fatally shooting her in eastern Allegheny County. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Allegheny County announced new investments to expand its reentry program for jail residents preparing to return to the community -- totaling about $3.5 million over two years -- with plans to launch enhanced services like weekly therapy groups, skill-building classes, and in-unit activity programming this summer. - ➤ Thousands in Pittsburgh have been without power for over five days after violent storms left residents struggling with spoiled food and no showers — Duquesne Light crews are working to restore service. State Rep. Mandy Steele said she will investigate the outages and expects remaining neighborhoods to have power back by tonight. WTAE

- ➤ 21-year-old Sydney Willig, who has cystic fibrosis, ran a 13.1-mile half marathon on Sunday in Pittsburgh by following an early 4 a.m. regimen with a nebulizer.
