ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Kavan Markwood, who fell over the Clemente Wall during a Pirates game at PNC Park Wednesday night and suffered a fractured skull, is awake and speaking — police are investigating the fall as an accident.  CBS Pittsburgh

CRIME NEWS

  • Pittsburgh Public Safety said SWAT responded to a standoff at a home in Lincoln Place on the 5700 block of Mifflin Road following a domestic incident and urged residents to avoid the area since the woman is safe and the man continues to refuse to leave—Mifflin Road is shut down between Buttermilk Hollow Road and Mohrbach Street.  WTAE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Allegheny County Elections Division has begun mailing ballots for the May 20 primary to voters who requested them. County offices and satellite locations will offer in-person services, and residents must apply by May 13 if they want a mail ballot.  WPXI

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon began bright and early on Sunday morning with runners taking off on city streets—KDKA's Jessica Riley provided updates from the starting line.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Penguins forward Sidney Crosby was added to Team Canada's IIHF World Championship roster—his first time on the team since he captained them to gold in 2015 and his ninth international appearance overall. The tournament will run from May 9th to 25th in Herning, Denmark—games will also be held in Stockholm, Sweden.  WPXI
  • Neighborhood Academy’s Courtney Wallace and Aliquippa’s Josh Pratt were named player of the year in all-state boys basketball for Class 1A and 3A after playing in the WPIAL this season—officials confirmed the awards based on game performance.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
  • Dominic Ondoro won the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on Sunday with a finishing time of 1:01:47—Wesley Kiptoo, last year’s winner, ran close behind—and the race ended with a dramatic finish.  WTAE
  • Before dawn on Sunday, nearly 23,000 runners from around the region, country and world gathered in Pittsburgh to start the annual marathon with a 13.1-mile half and a 26.2-mile full course.  The Tribune-Review
  • Birhanu Feyissa won the Pittsburgh Marathon by finishing in 2:14:30, backed by strong support from local fans. It was his first race in Pittsburgh and he said through a translator that he felt happy and grateful for the city's greenery and cheering crowds—his debut run highlights a promising start.  WTAE
