- ➤ Pittsburgh-based renewable energy startup Oriden was sold by Mitsubishi Power Americas to Miami-based private equity firm I Squared Capital on Friday, May 1. The deal is expected to fuel Oriden's future growth. WPXI

- ➤ The Carnegie Museum of Art previewed the 59th Carnegie International on May 1 with a press tour featuring 61 artists and 36 new commissioned works — the exhibition opens today and runs until Jan. 3, with paintings, sculptures and mixed media on display. Pittsburgh City Paper
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Pittsburgh reached record highs on Friday, with AAA reporting regular unleaded at $4.543 compared to $3.627 a year ago while diesel hit $6.070 (AAA). The uptick follows a two-week downturn amid rising national prices. WPXI

- ➤ The PA Lottery announced seven winning Powerball tickets for a combined $9 million, including a $1M prize from a ticket sold in Penn Hills that matched five white balls in Wednesday’s drawing. - ➤ Mayor Corey O’Connor announced that the Richard King Mellon Foundation will contribute nearly $2 million to fund a year-round youth employment program & refresh Mellon Square Park storefronts while also boosting preparations for Pittsburgh’s Independence Day celebration. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Attorney General Dave Sunday announced a $7.4 billion national opioid settlement that is now legally effective and will send over $205 million to Pennsylvania communities over 15 years — funds are scheduled to begin arriving late 2026. WPXI
- ➤ Residents in Pittsburgh said they were blindsided by plans to convert the former Fraternal Order of Police lodge on Banksville Road into a reentry center, and they raised concerns about the community impact. CBS Pittsburgh
- ➤ DPW permits P3R to close three bridges for races this weekend – the Andy Warhol Bridge closes today from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the David McCullough Bridge closes Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the Roberto Clemente Bridge also shuts for Pirates. Allegheny County
