  • During Tuesday evening's storm, 59-year-old David Lepinsky was electrocuted on St. Martin Street in the South Side Slopes—67-year-old Raymond Gordon was struck by a falling tree in Ross Township while working outside his home.  WTAE

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fiori's pizzeria in Pittsburgh was condemned after a storm ripped off its roof on Wednesday, April 30—Gov. Shapiro inspected the damage as workers cleared debris to install a temporary roof needed to lift the condemnation.   • May in Pittsburgh offers a variety of cultural events such as Jazz Poetry Month shows, a record-setting marathon weekend, local art markets, and a pierogi festival for community fun.   • A severe storm killed two people and left 400,000 customers without power when wind gusts of 70 mph knocked down trees, power lines, and damaged buildings.   • Pittsburgh Regional Transit held its first public hearing at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center to discuss proposed service cuts that would eliminate 40 bus routes, reduce door-to-door service for those in need by over 60%, and raise fares by 25 cents to help address a large budget deficit.
