- ➤ Five Upper St. Clair High School tenth graders will run the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay this weekend in honor of their friend Sam Levine, who died from brain cancer last December. They aim to raise $5,000 for the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation as a tribute to his perseverance. CBS Pittsburgh
- ➤ 412 Food Rescue collected leftover food from last week's NFL Draft in Pittsburgh to help feed local residents. The group gathered 43,000 pounds (aiming for 60,000 pounds) worth about $118,153. CBS Pittsburgh

- ➤ Chartiers Valley teacher Chris Meyer received the WTAE Teacher of the Month award in April for teaching real-world business skills and running a student coffee shop at his high school — he also partnered with Officer Kelsch on a program linking students with local law enforcement. WTAE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Allegheny County Council voted Tuesday to move forward a grant program that gives 32 EMS providers grants of about $30,000 for equipment repairs and upgrades. The Budget and Finance Committee will review the proposal on May 6, with a full vote to follow. The Tribune-Review
