- ➤ The Carnegie Library of Homestead completed its second phase of renovations on Saturday — it finished HVAC work, boosted accessibility and set up sensor-friendly spaces while preserving its historic structure. State funds of over $2 million helped pay for the work and officials celebrated the library’s role as a hub for learning and community activities. WPXI

- ➤ A 68-year-old man died after his pickup truck crashed head-on into a tree on Saturday evening in Hempfield Township — he was not wearing a seatbelt and the airbags deployed — and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the fatal incident in Westmoreland County. CBS Pittsburgh

- ➤ A Butler County man barred from owning guns fired homemade .22 caliber rifles on his property near Connosquenessing Elementary School at 9 a.m. Saturday—troopers reported he was shooting at targets without proper backstops and he was taken into custody. WPXI
- ➤ State police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning on Broadmore Drive in the Washington Estates mobile home park in Washington—officials have not yet confirmed if anyone was injured. WPXI

- ➤ The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s Conservation Center in Somerset County cares for elephants and bison and runs breeding programs and research projects to support conservation—while the center has faced challenges like elephant disease, it continues to offer visitors an up-close look at natural animal behaviors.
