- ➤ Forbes has named two Pittsburgh AI startups, Skild AI and Abridge, among the top 50 promising companies. Abridge clarified that its headquarters remain in Pittsburgh and has secured $458 million in funding, including a recent $250 million Series D that valued it at $2.75 billion. WPXI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pittsburgh police are asking the public to help locate a 12 year old boy named Jeremiah Beywas—last seen in the Hill District wearing red and black pajamas, a red Nike T shirt, a blue puffy coat, white Crocs and a bookbag with a mouth design; he is about 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair. - ➤ Pittsburgh Jewish organizations said the arson attack on Governor Shapiro’s home early Sunday was a hate crime when state police took suspect Cody Balmer into custody after he set a fire that damaged the area where the family celebrated Passover — though no hate crime charge has been applied. - ➤ Pittsburgh Public Safety said police are seeking help to locate 12-year-old Te’Aja Parrotte—last seen Saturday, April 12th on Junilla Street in Middle Hill wearing a black shirt, gray backpack and red Coca-Cola pants or blue jeans, and noted at 4-foot-4 and about 115 pounds while frequenting the Hill District and the library. - ➤ The Pittsburgh Pirates turned in a strong effort on April 14th when pitcher Paul Skenes returned to form to help the team secure a 10-3 victory over the Washington Nationals at PNC Park. WPXI
- ➤ Deborah Abiodun, a talented Nigerian soccer player and Olympian, helped Pitt women's soccer reach the Elite Eight in 2023 and earn ACC honors—she left Pitt after two seasons to begin her pro career and is now on loan to Dallas Trinity from Washington Spirits. The Pitt News
- ➤ Ohio State quarterback Will Howard said he will make teams regret not picking him after meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis Saturday.
